Mechanical Area (Job code 435) Our client in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida provides leading edge products and services to government and commercial customers worldwide. The overall company is focused on defense electronics; the company develops and manufactures a broad range of mission critical systems and components in the areas of communications, combat systems, battlefield digitization, electro-optics, power systems, data storage, digital imaging, flight safety and space. The company provides engineering, manufacturing, and support of defense and aerospace systems for sea, land, air, and space use. The product and service areas located in Fort Walton Beach Florida include electronic control and monitoring systems, aerospace material handling systems, simulation and training systems, radar systems, aerospace support equipment, contract manufacturing, engineering, and product support. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in the mechanical area who will perform mechanical engineering duties on unmanned vehicle programs.

Position Summary Performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments related to improving operational effectiveness, productivity, technology, yields, and financial performance of manufacturing groups. Responsible for the processes in the mechanical machining production area.

Duties and Responsibilities ? Performs designed experiments and capability studies, develops process specifications, and designs and procures process tooling. ? Evalutates and advises on the selection of suitable equipment for optimized, balanced line performance. ? Analyzes new processes and equipment with the intent of achieving continuous improvement of present methods. ? Develops process documentation and trains personnel on new processes, materials, and equipment. ? Prepares assembly methods from review of engineering design packages. ? Evaluates both military and commercial technical specifications. ? Determines special and general tooling, and the evaluation, acquisition, and implementation of capital equipment. ? Monitors assembly processes and sequences. ? Troubleshoots general production problems and interfaces with Engineering and Quality Assurance Departments when problems occur.

Basic Qualifications ? Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field required. ? Minimum five years of experience in supporting electronics contract manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing operations of the mechanical machining department including sheet metal, vertical and horizontal milling machines, press brakes, punches presses, lathes, required; welding, and painting equipment is a plus. ? Familiarity with wiring and harness apparatus and systems is a must ? Ability to assign, critique, and optimize geometric dimensioning and tolerance on parts and assemblies. ? Ability to devise plans, collects information, and recommends changes to reduce the cost of parts or processes. ? Ability to compile and analyze information using spreadsheets and other computer applications. ? Ability to find and evaluate new processes, suppliers, and technology for incorporation into products and processes. ? Ability to recognize high cost features in new designs and recommend cost effective alternatives. ? Must have technical writing ability and the ability to interpret engineering drawings. ? Excellent communication skills. ? Must be familiar with process determination.
